The City Clerk's Office offers the following services:
- Marriage Licenses
- Persons need to be 18 years old without parental consent.
- License fee is $40.00. (Cash, money order or certified check; no personal checks; credit card in person)
- Identification is needed (a driver's license or picture ID) and birth certificate.
- All previous divorce papers are necessary.
- There is a 24-hour waiting period. The license is good for 60 days, and may be used anywhere in New York State.
- Birth Certificate Copies
- Person must be 18 years of age, and only the individual themselves or their parents are entitled to the record.
- Fee is $10. (Cash, money order or certified check; no personal checks; credit card in person)
- Must be born in Ellis Hospital, St. Clare's Hospital or directly in the City of Schenectady.
- Births after April 1942, if born at Bellevue Hospital, are at the Town of Niskayuna.
- Death Certificate Copies
- Person requesting must be either a relative or an attorney (must be on their letterhead).
- Death must have occurred in Ellis Hospital, St. Clare's Hospital or directly in the City of Schenectady.
- Genealogy
- Search fee is $22.00 whether record is found or not. (Cash, money order or certified check; no personal checks; credit card in person)
- Death record must be on file for 50 years.
- Marriages and births must be on file for 75 years.

- Handicapped Parking Permits
- Need to bring certificate from physician stating handicap.
- Permanent certificates are 5 years, temporary 6 months.
- Bingo licenses
- The City Clerk is the official record keeper of the City Council.
