From its humble beginning, as a medical chest in the office of the Assistant General Manager of the Works in 1894, the Works Hospital has developed into a modern facility capable of handling nearly any type of industrial accident case. In addition to physical examination of new and re-engaged employees, the most frequent services rendered to workers are attention to injuries and ailments.

The Employee Service section is organized to secure the maximum benefits accruing to the workers under the many benefit plans available to General Electric employees. These plans include Group Life Insurance, Social Security Benefits, General Electric Mutual Benefit Association, Relief & Loan Plan and Workmen's Compensation benefits.
